Asmara — The streets of Asmara city are glittering with twinkling lights at the onset of Independence Day observance which is being conducted under the theme “Eritrea - Shield of Resilience and Nobility of Work.”

Fihira - “Arki-Hilifot.”

Probably one of my fav Eritrean revolutionary songs. Even though Fihira didn’t get to sing most of the song.

So in the States it’s Mother’s Day & here on FYE, May is dedicated to all things Eritrea Independence related. However, I think today is a PERFECT chance to express great appreciate to all the mothers, grandmothers, aunts, & etc that faught in the war for Eritrea’s freedom, the mothers that gave their homes, made food, & etc to/for all the soldiers! A mother’s love, support, & care is what helped people bring Eritrea that victory! Rest in peace to all the mothers that died during the war, those that were killed, or those that died of other causes not only during the war but to any mother in Eritrea & all over the world! Also a shout out to fathers that raised their childern as both a mother & father for their kids! Hope everyone has an amazing Mother’s Day no matter where you are, who you are, your ethnicity, & etc!
